Routes Africa
CLIENT:
Kenya Airports Authority
THE BRIEF:
1. To organize a Kenya-themed international convention consisting of a series of conferences, one-on-one networking opportunities, gala dinners, an exhibition and entertainment
2. To arrange for international attendees to get to know about the Kenyan coastal culture
3. To work with and help execute a tight program that would accommodate the formal and informal aspects of the convention, and take into account the protocol demands of the various dignitaries.
VENUES:
1. Pride Inn Hotel, Nyali, Mombasa
Most formal convention activities took place here over three days, including the conference sessions, matchmaking meeting sessions, and the exhibition. There were also two formal gala dinners held here.
2. Swahili Beach Hotel, Diani, Mombasa
The more celebratory events were held here over two days. A formal gala dinner was held here, as was a beach cocktail and the farewell dinner – dance. There was a traditional-style market by local traders who showcased their wares to the visitors, and traditional dancers provided entertainment.
ASSESSMENT
The goals of the event were achieved. There were no protocol slips or program errors as the dry runs and contingency plans ensured the smooth running of the program.
OUTCOME
The Nitty Gritty team ably planned and executed all the complex and exacting details the event entailed. The event set the gold standard for Routes Africa’s global series of events.
KWAL @ 50 Celebrations
CLIENT:
Kenya Wine Agencies Ltd
THE BRIEF:
To deliver a series of events that include:
1. A high-level celebration of the 50th, attended by various dignitaries and senior stakeholders
2. A celebration focused on the staff and distributors who have built the company into what it is.
VENUES:
1. Windsor Golf and Country Club
This was the site of the high-level event, which included an elaborate and spectacular gala dinner and recognition of the key personalities.
2. Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort, Naivasha
The celebration of staff and distributors was held here over two days. Among the key events were a gala dinner dance, an awards ceremony, and various diversionary activities including games and hikes.
ASSESSMENT
Although this was more of a celebration than a business-building event, there are takeaway examples of our ability to track resources:
- Both venues were cleaned up and returned to a pristine condition on completion of the events
- Transport for numerous individuals from across the country to and from the Naivasha venue was impeccably and economically organized by The Nitty Gritty, showcasing the organizers as caring for their stakeholders. Accommodation was similarly managed in an efficient and unimpeachable manner.
OUTCOME
The event was an unmitigated success, and both the organizers and attendees declared that it raised the bar on seamless event organization, creativity, and impact.
Brothers of the Grill
CLIENT:
Jack Daniels
THE STRATEGIC GOALS:
Customer engagement and brand interaction, brand building and image enhancement, growing brand love
THE BRIEF:
1. To organize a grilling competition between some of the leading grill houses in Nairobi
2. To organize a concurrent expo where various restaurants can sell their food under a Jack Daniels theme
3. To arrange for gate payment, entrance and traffic, seating and entertainment of the hundreds of attendees.
VENUE:
The Arboretum, Nairobi
This was the site of the high-level event, which included an elaborate and spectacular gala dinner and recognition of the key personalities.
ASSESSMENT
- The registration and placement of the competitors went smoothly, and the competition was a roaring success
- The attendees were entertained and engaged, and there were no incidents due to the prearranged security precautions and the careful curating of attendees from the public
OUTCOME
The event garnered exceptional ROI in the form of positive publicity for the Jack Daniels brand, and financial returns in the form of participation and entrance fees.
UEFA Champion’s League Finals Viewing
CLIENT:
Heineken
THE STRATEGIC GOAL:
Brand building and image enhancement, customer engagement and brand interaction, growing brand love
THE BRIEF:
Organize an exciting high-energy Heineken-themed community venue to recreate the excitement of viewing the UEFA final at the actual stadium.
VENUE:
The Harlequins Club, Nairobi
The approach and entrance to the venue were themed to match the entrance to the players’ dugout while the venue itself was a miniature soccer stadium gallery.
ASSESSMENT
The event setup was deliberately made easy to set up, maintain, and set down, making it environmentally friendly.
OUTCOME
Attendees were thrilled with the layout and the electric atmosphere was akin to the actual stadium. It was a tremendous success.
